Adventure Bike Rider

Hello all my name is Ozzie and I am located in Fl. Have dealt in bikes and ridden since age 12. Now 41.. I am here because I had a plan to ride a large part of Chile and Argentina but the long time friend that would have accompanied me is moving to the US and and due to personal reasons will not be in a position to come. He knows the trip well. I have instead shifted my interest to a trip through Cuba. I will be riding with my two sons now age 14 and 16. Hoping to talk to anyone that has made the trip. I know it must be possible I have heard of Italians and Spaniards importing their scooters for temporary periods in Cuba. Anyways hope to get some good info on here. Was going to the Argentina trip on an Africa Twin that I bought just for the trip. I am now going to do it on a Honda FMX650 as my kids will better fit the 650 and we will carry all our spares with us, so better have all the same bikes.. Will soon be selling the Africa Twin as I have received the first two FMX.

Hello Redmurty, I'd love to know some of the details of their planning if they will share. Example, What kind of pre-planning was required. Documents, import regulations for the bikes, what kind of trouble did they encounter on the back roads or main roads moving between provinces. I know that tourists have freedonm to move around the island, which is not true for the locals. I should have mentioned that I was born there but have never been back. I speak the language fluently and know the customs, Just not sure about the politics of the trip. Anyways if your mates would be willing to share, it would help avoid some the bitter moments I am anticipating. I plan to be there for approx one month during the summer. I will wait for my youngest son to be 16 so it will happen in the summer of 2014 which will be here sooner than I expect.
