I bought these for a trip to Morocco and believe that I definitely made the right choice and they were the envy of a few other riders while we were there.

The huge thigh vents work brilliantly and kept me cool (or at least bearable) through 40+ Celsius heat.

They are extremely comfortable while riding, with ribbed stretch panels and soft mesh areas front and back of the knee, with leather panels in the seat and inside, lower leg. A highly breathable panel around the groin also helps things a lot.

The zip, fly poppers, leg velcro and velcro waist adjusters are all very high quality and the clip loops, big pockets and key clip are all great little details - as is the lip in the pockets, so coins don't just fall out. These are cut to go outside MX boots, but I wore them both inside and out as the adjusters go right around the back of the calf, Klim also make a cut for inside boot only I believe.

I rated reliability high since I rode 6000 miles and put them through a fair amount of distress and there are no signs of anything failing, only time will tell how durable they are.

I did find that I missed waist level pockets, but that was just a case of adjusting my habits.

Without additional armour, their protection is somewhat limited, but the foam padding is comfortable to walk in and offers some protection. They are good for light showers and even brief, heavier showers, but obviously will need a waterproof layer in anything heavier or more sustained.

Would definitely recommend for comfortable hot weather riding and would definitely consider buying again.

Bought them from Desert Rose Racing (via Adventure Spec) - recommended.

At last, a pair of bike trousers where the knee armour is in the right place.
It's surprising but an inch at the knee can make a massive difference at the ankle. I had always had issues with bike trousers, whether they be leather, fabric, jeans or waterproofs, ending up half way up my shins once I get on the bike. Not with these, great fit when stood up and still a great fit when you get on the bike.
Waterproofing, excellent, they got a thoroughbtest in Sweden when the heavy rain almost turned every road into a river crossing.
Warmth, great even without the lining in.
Vents on the sides could do with being a little bigger.
Two thigh pockets, very useful.
With hip armour as well as knees, full and short zips and the massive range of adjustment at the ankle closure I think these are well worth the small amount being charged.

Bought as an alternative to a BMW goretex line to a pair of santiago trousers. I picked up a pair at the Kelso bikefest at what wasn't the cheapest stall but they had a long leg version. They are purely an overtrouser with no thermal lining or protection, however they are extremely waterproof as I discovered in more than one downpour. Thoroughly recommended for wearing over leathers or even cordura (wet cordura lets you get cold and gets heavy. Take time when looking as there are a large variety of sizes available. I also like the style and the desert colour stands out in Britain.

I've had the trousers for a couple of years, they have removable knee armour, braces, waist adjustment, zip and velcro boot openings, removable thermal lining, 2 side pockets, zip fly and a zip to attach the jacket.
They have been waterproof for the rare times I've seen rain in Norfolk (honestly!), are comfortable, fit nicely without bellowing in the wind or cutting off blood supply. The boot zips don't catch on the lining which lots of trousers do. The elasticated waist is secured by press stud and hook and braces make sure you don't end up with a draft up your back.
The thermal linings are warm and easy to remove once the weather improves leaving tough textile trousers.
For anyone with worries over the strength of the material, I selflessly threw myself down the road admittedly only at 10mph but my lower leg took the full slide under a BMW and the only damage was a slight fraying of the material where the metal boot buckle was behind it. They did not even wear through there but I suspect they would do with a faster off.
They also look far better than you would expect from a budget pair of trews, black with expander knees and reflctive piping down the leg.

In summary, they are warm, strong, waterproof, comfortable and look good.

So why would anyone spend four times this much on a pair of trousers when these work this well?

These are ideal to wear to keep out the worst of the weather even if you have textiles that are waterproof.
They have no padding or protection for impact or abrasion as they are an over trouser but comfortably over my mx style knee armour
I wear them over mx trousers in the summer or my enduro trousers in the winter perfect for green laning the cammo pattern looks the part. These act as a bit of extra insurance against the cold and rain.

There are many types available the dutch and german ones are thought to be more durable and hard wearing but any will cost little and do the job well
