Bike Problems & Accidents Absolute pig of a bike that would throw the lay shaft bearing at a drop of a hat. It went, again, just south of Paris. No accidents other than the big hole in my wallet.
Highs Just the all round excitement of heading to Morocco
Lows The lay shaft bearing problem
The Single Most Important Lesson Learnt Don't travel to anywhere you really want to get to on a Norton Commando 850 unless you're carrying a dozen spare bearings and full tool kit.

This was my first big motorcycle outing at the age of 18 back in 1978. The Police were No1 with Message in a Bottle and Morocco was about as exotic as it gets for a boy travelling solo from the South Wales valleys on a Norton Commando. Little did I know the fun and games I'd have just south of Paris.

I'm going to post up a full trip report - well as far as I can remember, it was in 1978 after all. So, keep tuned more to come.
