$20 AUS (approx. £13.00) plus shipping

How often have you had to carry your helmet around with you and wished you could have left it secured to the bike. I know I do, especially on a ferry, when you are lugging other stuff around; the added encumbrance of a lid is the last thing I want.

Well thanks to this little Aussie invention your lid lugging days could soon be over!

Simplicity is the name of the game so Helmetlok is just that, an outward opening carabineer style lock that is nice and easy to use it features a 3-digit combination lock which utilises the helmet ring or Double D ring fastening on the strap to shackle it to your bike. If you haven’t got the D ring type they also offer a 3mm thick nickel plated steel coil cable to wrap around the chin bar then lock it on.

This could also be used to thread through your jacket sleeves or a bag and then leave the whole lot behind.

For other helmet fasteners there will be an adapter available soon, so all the bases will be covered.
What’s really cool is that the whole thing can be carried in your pocket or clipped to your belt loops.
It’s quite a strong little device and the use of a combination lock is a great idea, well as long as you are ok at remembering numbers! No extra keys to worry about.

The Helmetlok isn’t available in the UK yet but you can get one shipped from Oz, but why not get a few of your mates to all get one and cover the costs?!

In a Line: So simple, why hasn’t it been done before!

I've been using a Pacsafe combination cable lock to do the same thing for ages and can thoroughly recommend it. It's got a decent long cable but handily retracts back into an easily portable device.

There was a company offering a very similar item at the Adventure day at the Ace Cafe back in Feb.

and all can be cut through very simply...
the only reason they have not is probably due to the location where they have been left?
I have tested many safety products for a living pac-safe cable is one of the best but small bolt/cable cutters go thru most like hot knives and butter..carry helmet in a foldaway ruck-sac or invest in a decent/stronger chain/lock,,just my humble opinion

Have been doing this for years with a combination carabiner and a disc lock reminder. Just checked and both can be sourced for under £5 off eBay. You will not stop the person who really wants your helmet, but brilliant when on tour and to stop the opportunist thief. smilies/grin.gif

It's true...

...if your thief has the right tools, he can cut through anything, then again if he's carrying those kind of tools he can probably make off with your whole bike. What this is doing if giving a butt of protection to stop the opportunist, and AOL the solutions are better than just leaving your helmet hooked on your mirror.

Hi Guys,
I was selling the Lockstraps at the Ace Cafe, you can lock two helmets, a jacket and your soft luggage on to the bike.
The webbing strapping has a steel reinforced core so it is not easily cut.
We have done very well with these and there is a special offer at the moment.
